Lightweight means to realize a weight reduction, with sufficient rigidity, dynamic stability and strength. This is to ensure that the developed components and structures fulfill their tasks safely over the period of use.

The material properties, structural design, the design and the manufacturing process determine the quality of a lightweight structure significantly. Therefore, the entire development chain to be considered on mass production and product approval and use of the material and product development.

About the Fraunhofer LBF
With its comprehensive expertise in the fields of structural durability, adaptronics and system reliability, the Fraunhofer LBF develops, evaluates and implements customised solutions for all safety components – ranging from the materials to whole systems and from the first idea to the product.
